Pitching Takes Center Stage in Post 491’s Loss to Exton Gold

Kennett’s pitching held Exton to only 6 hits and 2 ER, but Exton Gold’s pitching was better tonight.

Exton came up with a big two-out hit in the first inning to push across the game’s first run. The score held 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth where a single, two Kennett errors, and a hit lead to two more runs for Exton.

In the fifth, Alex Wisniewski came on in relief for Kennett with no outs and two men on. Wisniewski was brilliant in stranding both runners. But in the 6th, Concord would push two more across, making the score 5-0 which would be more than enough for Exton.

Matt McCloskey toed the rubber for Kennett. He went four innings, allowing 1 ER on four hits and striking out two. Alex Wisniewski and Jeremy Sauerbaum entered the game in relief, throwing one and one-third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively and only allowing 1 ER combined.

Despite numerous hard hit balls, Kennett could only muster 3 hits. Sauerbaum, Nate Holt, and Grant Hineman each had hits for Post 491.

It was a great baseball game that featured a battle of unbeatens. Exton Gold moved into first place with the win.

Post 491 is at it again this Sunday (3pm) at Rustin HS facing the Westtown Express.
